After several intense days in the hospital, my grandfather passed away in October. During the days that we were attending to him, I photographed my experience with my phone from 2008 (my dad's old work phone). Perhaps this served as a distraction, or maybe as a way for me to process the situation and my emotions. With these images, I wanted to capture the feelings surrounding the awaiting of death, or at least my experience of the situation. The choice of technique was very deliberate, it was a sensitive situation and I didn't want to be intrusive. I also didn't want to think too much about settings as I feel that a lack of control can make it easier to portray emotions.
