MARCH 20TH – APRIL 10TH, 2026
‘FOLDED CITIES’  at Lagerhusets Bibliotek,
Göteborg

Folded Cities came together through an invitation from SWIT, a platform for contemporary photography bridging Sweden and Italy, founded by Stefano Conti. The starting point was simple: an open call addressed to Italy-based artists and publishers to gather photo-based works (books, zines, dummies), which would then be set in conversation with some publications already held in the Take 10 Press collection.

The selection process moved from there. Once the Italian submissions were in, Take 10 Press reviewed the works and drew out a group of books that could enter into meaningful dialogue with them — not just through shared themes, but also through contrasts in aesthetic, approach, and production method. The result is an exhibition that doesn't flatten the differences between the two communities, but holds them together and lets them speak.

For this first exhibition, the publications were placed directly onto the shelves of Lagerhusets Bibliotek, sitting alongside the books of the public library. The idea of this context was to create an unexpected encounter: a visitor browsing the shelves might come across a self-published photobook or zine without knowing in advance that it was there, and without being asked to treat it differently from anything else on the shelf. No hierarchy between the artist book and the borrowed novel, no division between independent and institutional.

The show opened at Lagerhusets Bibliotek in Göteborg before travelling to Italy in October.

A warm thank you to Stefano Conti and Mehrad Ahmadyan for making this collaboration possible.
