‘Hur läser man en fotobok?’  at Frolunda Bibliotek,
Göteborg

On September 25th, during the same week as Bokmässan, Alberto Rossi (Take 10 Press) and Andreas Hagström (Hasselblad Foundation Library) came together to read photobooks, live, in front of an audience. An overhead camera projected the pages onto a screen as the two speakers moved through the books of their respective libraries, discussing their content, what they narrate, and how that narration takes shape through the structure of the book and the logic of its image sequencing.

Holding the lecture in a public library carried its own weight. Within such spaces, the photobook is usually a niche object, rarely picked up or read through. Presenting it here, live and unpacked page by page, meant reaching an audience that doesn't usually seek these kind of books or have the tools to interpret them

Alongside it, the Take 10 Press library was on display in the room, giving visitors the chance to browse its self-published works. The event was conceived as a collateral contribution to Fotobok Gbg, in collaboration with Centrum för Fotografi, and built around this year's programme theme, "dialog och samarbete".

A special thank you goes to Daniel Josefsson and Elin Theresia Svedberg from Frolunda Kulturhus for making this collaboration possible.
